Exploring the Great Wolf Lodge Mobile App

Today I will be evaluating the Great Wolf Lodge mobile app. My family and I enjoy taking trips to the Great Wolf Lodge and try to go a couple of times each summer. Let me take you through my experience with this user friendly app that makes planning and enjoying our trips even easier.

Usability and Navigation

I find that the useability of this app is user friendly and very easy to navigate all the different icons and options. There is a lot of different items you can click on and view but it’s not overwhelming in my opinion and broken down into different parts such as viewing the different attractions and shops, or the events that are taking place that day just to name a few. So, you can really pick and choose what it is you want to view or do and go from there.

Functionality

The functionality is awesome with the app. You can do pretty much anything you want in the app as far as a trip to a water park goes. There really is no need to even call the lodge directly, I haven’t encountered a question or issue I wasn’t able to figure out with the app. Booking the room is very easy as that option sits at the top of the app as shown.

You can reserve a cabana poolside if you wish, to ordering food directly to your room, as well as viewing your current transactions as your trip continues and the app has many more features. The app really does make it easy on the user, which is what we all want. In the event you do run into an issue with the app or your trip in general, you can utilize the chat function and chat with a great wolf lodge representative through the app to resolve that issue as well.

Design

Going into the design aspects of the app, I really enjoy the app layout as it implements a lot of different colors and images such as the different pictures on each icon throughout the app. This make’s the app visually appealing to the user and also makes you want to explore the app more and what it has to offer. I also like that they have the frozen pane at the bottom of the app that has the Home, Dining, Things to Do, Chat, and More icons.

You can choose to still scroll through the app or just click on a desired option such as things to do and see the current statuses of each attraction that day.

Recommendations for Improvement

Despite the app's excellent features, there are a few areas for enhancement:

  1. Speed: During peak summer times, the app can take a few seconds longer than desired to load different pages. Enhancing the app's speed would be a significant improvement.
  2. Interactive Map: Making the lodge map more interactive would be beneficial. Allowing users to click on a location and get statuses directly from the map would enhance usability.
  3. Digital Payments: Integrating Apple Pay or other digital payment options for settling the tab at the end of the trip would be a convenient addition, especially since the Great Wolf Lodge doesn't accept cash.
  4. Trip Feedback: Allowing visitors to be able to give feedback in the app about their trip would allow lodge staff to see areas they are excelling at and areas for improvement to continue to improve guest satisfaction.

Overall, the Great Wolf Lodge mobile app is already fantastic, but with these tweaks, it could be even better. It truly makes planning and enjoying your stay easier, which is what we all want.

Ping Commands, Viruses, and Phishing

Ping commands are useful when it comes to troubleshooting and checking to see if a website is available and how fast you would be able to access it. However, ping can also be used for malicious intent. Today I will discuss an attack possible by means of ping commands. I will also get into computer security incidents like computer viruses and phishing and discuss what makes computers vulnerable to them, the damage they can inflict and protection methods for each. Ping Commands for Malicious Intent One major attack that can be accomplished by using ping commands is a denial of service attack. A denial of service attack is when a target website is basically overloaded to the point that it is rendered useless. By using the ping command, an attacker will send oversized data packets to a target website that will be too much for it to handle and causing the site to crash, not allowing legit users to use that site for a certain amount of time. An example of this ...

Intro to Programming Languages

Having very little IT experience, this project is my first steps towards a better background in that department. It is exciting and makes me nervous at the same time as I have never used nor even read about programming languages before. This was the same for the program Scratch, but the outcome was positive and gave me a better understanding of what program coding consists of. The following is the link to my Scratch program :  https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1116622511 This was quite interesting, having never used the program Scratch, I found myself struggling a bit at first trying to figure out how all the different codes would affect the outcome. Once I had a decent grasp of that, I knew what I wanted to do but getting the figures to do it how I wanted was the challenge. The biggest challenge was getting the timing right for everything. I overcame this by simple trial and error. I would set a time for something, run the program and see if it needed to be slowed or sped up...
